One choreographer defined modern dance in the 20th century and that man was Centralia’s own Merce Cunningham. Join the Centralia College Foundation on Friday, April 3 for a screening of the feature film in honor of his style and achievements. Dancers from the Centralia Ballet Academy will perform a number prior to the 90-minute feature film. Merce changed the structure of modern dance and choreographed more than 200 dances and over 800 “site-specific” works. His techniques are legendary and practiced around the world. More information about Merce can be found at mercecunningham.org and an art tribute to Merce is a permanent installment in the lobby of Washington Hall on the Centralia College Campus.
