SALES LESSON FROM THE WORLD OF SPORTS – ACTION NETWORKING

THE MOST VALUABLE SALES LESSON I EVER LEARNED WAS FROM A BASEBALL GAME. IT WAS CLOSE TO THE MIRACLE WE WITNESSED RECENTLY WITH THE SEAHAWKS NFC CHAMPIONSHIP. THE RAINIERS WERE DOWN 3-0 IN THE NINTH INNING. THEY CAME BACK TO WIN 4-3 WITH A GRAND SLAM HOME RUN BY A PLAYER THAT HAD ALREADY STRUCK OUT THREE TIMES.

SALES PEOPLE OFTEN GIVE UP AFTER TWO OR THREE CONTACTS WITH A POTENTIAL CLIENT. IT TAKES TIME FOR A CLIENT TO TRUST YOU. IF YOU PERSEVERE, IT USUALLY PAYS OFF. STAY FOR THE WHOLE GAME.
THIS IS HOW NETWORKING GROUPS WORK. IT TAKES TIME FOR PEOPLE TO GET TO KNOW YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS. THE MORE YOU SHOW UP, THE MORE PEOPLE WILL SEE THAT YOU’RE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT AND ALSO CUSTOMER SERVICE. PEOPLE DO BUSINESS WITH PEOPLE THEY KNOW AND TRUST; THAT TAKES TIME. IT COULD BE IN THE NINTH INNING.

YOU WON’T WIN THEM ALL, BUT SHOWING UP AND CREATING RELATIONSHIPS IS THE FIRST STEP TO BEING SUCCESSFUL IN SALES. DON’T LEAVE EARLY. JOIN ACTION NETWORKING ON MONDAY’S AT 8:30AM AT FIDDLER’S COFFEE HOUSE IN CENTRALIA. ARTICLE BY SHERYL MINER.
