What a whirlwind the last month has been. November brought our colder, wetter weather back. When the Critical Cold Weather Shelter in Centralia opened, supporters there provided a daily bus pass for the homeless and hungry to get to the Lewis County Gospel Mission for breakfast or lunch. Total meal count for the month is estimated to exceed 2,000 for the third month this year.
In a county with many unemployed, it is always amazing to see how our residents generously respond to helping those in need. We extend thanks to the churches, businesses and individuals who have brought in food for both the meal program and the client pantry, gently used clothing and a variety of hygiene supplies.
Donations can be delivered to the Lewis County Gospel Mission at 72 SW Chehalis Avenue in Chehalis. It’s the red building with the colorful brick wall, half way between the Law and Justice Center and Thorbecke’s. The Mission is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Save the Date: February 21, 2015. The Lewis County Gospel Mission will hold its “Buy the Building” fundraiser. Join us for dinner and both silent and live auctions. If you’d like to donate an item for the auction, please call the Mission office at 360-996-4474.
