On January 19, 1995, The Chamber Ambassadors helped CRIME STOPPERS OF LEWIS COUNTY kick-off this crime fighting program that collects anonymous tips regarding crimes in Lewis County area and forwards those tips to the appropriate police agency. If the tip leads to an arrest or closure of a case, the tipster is eligible for a cash reward up to &1000. The program works. It works because of strong community support, the medias broadcasting the information, and hard work by local law enforcement. Tips have led to the arrest of 333 persons, 411 cases cleared and the recovery of $3,138,163 in recovered stolen property and narcotics. $45,425 has been paid in rewards.
The program has expanded over the years, creating a web-site, taking e-tips, creating Student Crime Stoppers in the Chehalis and Adna school districts. A child ID programs is also being offered.
