Centralia College to host 26th Annual Job Fair on April 23

Area job seekers will connect with more than 60 employers at Centralia College’s 26th Annual Job Fair. The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, in the TransAlta Commons at the college. It’s open to students, graduates, and community members who are actively looking for employment.
Local, regional, and national employers will discuss part-time, full-time, and seasonal opportunities. All attending businesses plan to hire within six months.
Businesses will be recruiting for jobs that match the college’s programs. Positions will include diesel mechanics, welders, medical assistants and other healthcare professionals, business managers, accountants, educators, and law enforcement personnel.
“Several businesses interviewed guests on-the-spot during last year’s job fair,” Monica Brummer, coordinator of the job fair said. “Others held interviews at their place of business. All of them made connections. As a result, 30 students were hired within six months.”
Those seeking employment should be dressed in business attire with updated resumes in-hand. Brummer suggests that attendees leave distractions, such as cell phones, pets and children at home; and attend with confidence in their skills and abilities.
To prepare students prior to the event, the college’s advising center will offer resume workshops and the TRiO Club will host a Career Closet with free nearly-new career clothes for Centralia College students.
