Lewis County Schools
Lewis County school districts are dedicated to providing quality education using a curriculum continually revised to
exceed community and state standards. Our students consistently score well above the national average on
standardized assessment measures and place highly in regional and statewide
academic competitions.
Centralia School District
The Centralia School District is the largest in Lewis County with 430 employees serving 3,480 students K-12. Facilities include a four-year AA high school, an alternative high school program, a two-year middle school, five primary/intermediate elementary schools, and a special services cooperative. With the implementation of the WASL tests in the late 1990s, Centralia School District has seen exceptional growth with scores in reading, writing and math increasing by an average of 35 percent across 4th, 7th, and 10th grades. In addition to Centralia High School’s rigorous graduation model, students are required to also pass the 10th grade WASL.
Centralia’s schools receive annual recognition at all grade levels. At the high school level,
science students annually receive honors in the State and National Junior Science
and Humanities and Westinghouse State competitions. Quality athletic programs produce strong, competitive teams and individual athletes, who regularly compete at district, state, and national levels, as well as excel academically. Most notably, Centralia High School senior, Jordan Stray (3.9 GPA), is ranked 2nd in the nation for the hammer throw.
Gifted programs are available to students grades 3-8 and Honors and Advanced Placement courses are offered for qualified students grades 7-12. Special Education
programs for qualifying students birth to 21 are provided through the Centralia- Chehalis Student Support Co-op. Jefferson Lincoln received the “Title I Distinguished School” designation award for significant gains achieved in math and reading.

Chehalis School District
The Chehalis School District serves 2,767 students K-12 with 392 employees. Facilities include a four-year AA high school, a three-year middle school, and three primary/intermediate elementary schools. Chehalis School District students continue
to score above state averages on WASL tests. ACT and SAT test scores for W.F. West students were also above average. Eighty students participate in W.F. West Advanced Placement classes offered for U.S. History, Calculus and Science.
Cascade, R.E. Bennett and Olympic elementary school students earned over 17,000 points participating in the Accelerated Reading Program. Olympic Elementary School students raised $657.97 for “Pennies for Patients” during a partnership with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
W.F. West Varsity Wrestling and Boys’ Basketball both won 2005- 2006 PAC 9 championships. Varsity Boys’ Basketball also received WIAA Distinguished Academic Awards for a 3.08 GPA. W.F. West Girls’ Golf won the WIAA Outstanding Academic
Achievement Award with a 3.74 GPA. Derek Driscoll and Beau Hanson are state wrestling champions.
